Freddie McKnight Freddie McKnight practically grew up in the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were more than his family’s pastime, it was their life. Traveling along with his parents, relatives, and friends in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, McKnight quickly became acquainted with the ways of hunting and fishing. An avid reader of outdoor magazines, McKnight always had a desire to put his adventures into writing. His dream came to fruition in 1993 when he started writing a column titled “Fishing and Hunting in the Appalachians” for a small Huntingdon County weekly newspaper.
