New Philadelphia Outdoor Sports Show to Launch in 2010
Philly show will serve more than 6 million fishing, hunting and outdoor sports enthusiasts

January 31, 2009 - ALEXANDRIA, VA – The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) is proud to announce an addition to its family of east coast-based fishing, hunting and outdoor shows. ASA is expanding its reach into the consumer outdoor sports market with the launch of the Greater Philadelphia Outdoor Sportshow scheduled for February 25-28, 2010, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, located a short drive from downtown Philadelphia.

ASA, under its consumer show management company ASA/Eastern Fishing & Outdoor Exposition, is a leader in consumer show management in the eastern United States, showcasing fishing, hunting and other outdoor sports for outdoor sports enthusiasts. ASA, the sportfishing industry’s trade association, assumed ownership of Eastern Fishing & Outdoor Exposition in 2006 from founder, Paul Fuller.

“The Greater Philadelphia Area is an excellent market for an outdoor sport show,” said ASA President and CEO Mike Nussman. “At one point, Eastern Fishing and Paul Fuller produced one of the largest east coast outdoor sport shows, which happened to be located in the Philadelphia area. With more than 6 million people in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware region actively engaged in fishing, hunting and outdoor activities, it was an easy decision for us to commit to a new sport show.” Nussman further said, “We realize that times are tough, but that’s all the more reason to get outside and enjoy the simple pleasures that can be found in our great outdoors. Fishing and hunting can be learned by anyone at any age and a sport show is a great place to start.”

During its more than 30-year history, the Eastern Fishing shows have served hundreds of thousands of sportsmen and women and thousands of exhibitors. The dates and locations of the 2009 Outdoor Sports Shows are:

  • Toyota Eastern Fishing & Outdoor Exposition, Worcester, MA - February 5 – 8, 2009

  • Toyota World Fishing & Outdoor Exposition, Suffern, NY – March 5 – 8, 2009

  • The Toyota Saltwater Fishing Expo, Somerset, NJ – March 20 – 22, 2009

“Sportsmen and women will be well served by this new Philadelphia show,” said ASA’s Consumer Show Director Jonathan Sauers. “Between ASA and our east and west coast consumer shows, we have more than 100 years of experience in providing a showcase for the best there is in the fishing, hunting and marine industries. In the tradition established by Paul Fuller, we are going to produce a first class show that will be a key destination for exhibitors and attendees alike.”

As the sportfishing industry’s trade association, ASA has more than 50 years experience producing ICAST (International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades), the sportfishing industry’s trade show scheduled for July 15-17, 2009, in Orlando, Fla. ASA is also a partner with California-based Fred Hall & Associates, operators of the largest and most successful fishing and outdoor expos in the West.

The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks is one of the largest privately-owned exhibition centers on the east coast with 220,000 square feet of exhibitor-friendly space and is located just twenty minutes from central Philadelphia. www.phillyexpocenter.com
